Last week Sagraitalia held a series of workshops and tastings in London and Norwich of various olive oils  from Italy and the Island of Gozo. Andrea Tommasetti from the Frantoio Montedoro situated in the region of Le Marche in eastern Italy was in the UK for a week and he tutored the various groups who were present at these very popular events.
The first workshop was held at the FARM shop in Hackney in east London, this is a community based project promoting sustainable living and growing links with similar organisations in London and also other parts of the UK.
The evening was well attended by both local residents as well as many others who were interested in hearing about the process of producing fine extra virgin olive oils and the history behind the cultivation of olives in the Mediterranean region.

On Thursday 8th September Sagraitalia held another workshop at the Market Quarter in Belgravia, London. The Market Quarter is located in Elizabeth Street, SWI and they hold food and wines tastings each month, our latest  workshop was one of a series we have held there over the past six months, with more planned over the next year.
Andrea Tommasetti again spoke that evening and he also tutored tastings of the various olive oils, including his fine raggia monovarietal and organic oils as well as an Leccino from Umbria and a olive oil from the Island of Gozo.
Later that evening we also had a small tasting of typical wines from the Le Marche region of Italy, including a red Rosso Piceno, and the white Verdicchio, Passerina and Falerio varieties.

This event proved extremely popular and in fact we almost ran out of space for the thirty guests present, but luckily the evening was warm and fine, so guests also could stand outside with their wines in this extremely beautiful part of London.
